General Information on Photovoltaic Panels

Solar PV systems convert the light energy from the sun into electrical
energy. As PV systems are grid-connected this means the generated
electricity feeds directly into the standard electrical circuits of the building
meaning it can be used in exactly the same way as conventional
electricity from a power station.

-The panels create cost effective carbon free electricity to be used in the building which still takes advantage of the governments feed in tariff. People are literally being payed to generate electricity no-matter what its eventual purpose.
-Avoids the climate change levy placed on most electricity builds (8-10% of the overall bill on a non-domestic building)
-Provide a unique opportunity for architectural integration with the panels being a key design element of the building.
-Economically efficient via offsetting the initial capital costs of the PV array against the projected financial income from the system. Most systems can be payed off in roughly ten years leaving at least another fifteen of pure profit.
-PV developments are extremely valuable to future occupants and so can dramatically increase the value of the site.
